At Picture Lock Films, we were excited to partner with the Edmundson Electrical Group of Companies on an ambitious e-learning project exploring Employment Law in a fresh, engaging way. Designed to upskill over 500 branch managers on key themes around employee welfare, bullying, discrimination, and the Equality Act 2010, this training video had to go beyond the typical PowerPoint delivery.
To tackle such a complex and sensitive subject, we took a hybrid approach—using a live-action presenter in a virtual reality (VR) studio to introduce and link between topics, followed by clear, animated explainer segments. The result is a cohesive, accessible training film that makes dense legal content easier to digest.
Commissioned to replace in-person sessions delivered by legal trainers, this new format has already proven a game changer. It’s cost-effective, scalable, and time-saving. Employees can now complete training at their convenience, and HR can monitor completion and understanding via built-in knowledge checks in the company’s LMS.
Launched in January 2025, uptake has already exceeded 70%—with 350+ managers completing the module within weeks. That kind of reach would have been a logistical headache with face-to-face delivery.
This innovative learning solution has not only transformed internal training for Edmundson Electrical—it’s also been nominated for an Emerging Technology Award. The feedback so far? Managers prefer the flexible, immersive format over traditional presentations. For us, that’s a win for both engagement and impact.
